Artist's Description
This piece is made from recycled and found objects. The dogs were originally neon resin coat hooks. The lower leaves came from a discarded metal basket. The upper leaves were from an old stainless chandelier that was in the trash. The beaded orb is an old junked candle holder. The black iron work was in the trash and I'm not sure what it came from. The bottom pieces were odds and ends found in the trash as well. Much of this was repainted with either oil base or water based paints. I've been playing around with this for over a year and finally finished it a week ago. I wanted it to be whimsical with a more modern stylized Victorian Lamp feel.
About Mark Lubich
Mark Lubich was born in Port Hueneme, California in 1956. He graduated from West Seattle High School in 1974 and the University of Washington, with a BA in History, in 1978. He was commissioned a 2LT in the US Army in 1982 and, as a Captain, became medically disabled in 1988. He is a self taught artist who started working with mixed media in 1992. He began experimenting with glass in 1999. Currently, he’s incorporating fused glass with mixed media collage. He also continues to do sculptural glass pieces Distinctions and Awards 2015 Veteran's 2014 National Arts Competition, Puget Sound Region, 1st Place in Fiber Arts Original Design, 1st Place in Applied Arts Mixed Media and 2nd Place in Glass VA...
