A Night At The Carnival

September 11th, 2014

A Night At The Carnival

Inspired by the pulsing energy of midways, carnivals and state fairs, award winning artists Dayton Knipher (digital photography) and Mark Lubich (fused glass) have created an exciting and dynamic multi-sensory experience for their show at Phinney Center Gallery in Seattle, WA.

Knipher’s work takes you into the dizzy world of fast paced slideshows, video, and swirling photographic works of color and motion, while Lubich’s fused glass is the perfect material to convey the emotion and fluidity of the carnival and the unfocused energy that emanates from the mass of people that press the midway and queue for a two minute ride into madness.

We hope you enjoy the visual excitement as Phinney Center Gallery dives into the traveling show, an electric, heart stopping jumble of the topsy-turvy world of an American Carnival.

During Denver’s
Inaugural Biennial

“Collective Singular”

Curated by
Sandra Jean Ceas

In our complex world of humanity, in singularity we still collect and form a whole that shares the nuance of transformation with generations of interconnectedness and community. Local and international art will be exhibited expressing perceptions of social constructs including disparity, equality, healing, and dignity, all with spirits of contemplation and celebration of life.

Two fused glass pieces created by artist, Mark W. Lubich of Olympia, Washington, will be on display as part of Denver's Inaugural Biennial of the Americas at the Core Annex Gallery in Denver's Santa Fe Art District. Lubich's two works are "Celebrate the Possibilities" and "Celebrate Life." Two other Washington State artists will be represented in this group exhibit.

Inquiries regarding "Collective Singular" should be directed to...

Bremerton Banners Bring Local Flair To The Streets

The city is adding a punch of local color against the gray, rainy skies of Bremerton. Starting Monday, the city began hanging a series of banners featuring the work of local artists from street lamps, culminating a one-year Bremerton Arts Commission project that aims to spice up the streets. the Public Works and Utilities Department started hanging the banners at Pacific Avenue and Burwell Street. Thirty artists - all from western Washington and most with Kitsap roots - generated about 70 images for 140 banners that will be displayed along Pacific Avenue and throughout the city, said Pam Bykonen, who coordinated the project for the city Department of Community Development. The Arts Commission called for local artists to participate in the project a year ago, so it could "do something special" for the city, Bykonen said.

Artist Lisa Stirrett, whose work can be seen throughout the city from the conference center to the ferry terminal to Anthony's Restaurant, is one...
